Man Detained at Buenos Aires Airport on Suspicion of Human Trafficking

Buenos Aires, November 20 (NA) -- A man was detained before boarding a flight to Iguazú on suspicion of belonging to a human trafficking network, following the accusation of the woman who was sitting next to him, who requested help from officials.

According to the Argentine News Agency, the case has been handed over to Federal Judge Federico Villena of Lomas de Zamora, as the mobile phone of the alleged passenger and the woman's data are still under investigation to determine the origin of the events.

The passenger, who was about to board a well-known low-cost airline, had to be assisted by the Airport Security Police, as she stated on several occasions that she was "afraid to travel" with her companion. Although they lived together, she feared becoming a victim of a human trafficking network in Brazil.

Consequently, the case involved the Human Trafficking Rescue Network, which is part of the Undersecretariat of Criminal Policy of the Justice Secretariat of the Ministry of Justice. However, the man denied the facts, according to information provided by journalist Mauro Szeta.
